One week before siblings Rita and Leon move to Singapore for Leon’s upcoming enlistment, their estranged and distracted father, Marvin, whisks them away to a sponsored vacation at a mega-corporation’s secluded and isolated cabin. But once they arrive, they discover that the cabin, and each other, keep more secrets than they know.
This new musical, with book by Myle Yan Tay and music and lyrics by Nathaniel Mah, imagines what it’s like to live under benevolent, all-encompassing corporation control. Over this tumultuous and turbulent weekend, this dysfunctional family must decide to connect or disconnect, once and for all.
Privacy Settings was awarded the Creation Grant from the National Arts Council, Singapore in 2023, which culminated in a staged reading in February 2025, at the Wild Rice Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre.
